Session Description
Navigating the Junior Cycle or Leaving Certificate with ADHD requires more than just "trying harder"—it requires a strategy that works with your brain, not against it. This specialized module moves beyond generic study tips to address the specific roadblocks neurodivergent students face in the Irish curriculum, such as time blindness, task paralysis, and exam anxiety.
We break down the "hidden curriculum" of state exams, teaching students how to build a personalized "external brain" to manage their workload. From structuring long-form essays to managing the deadlines of Classroom-Based Assessments (CBAs), this session provides a roadmap for turning potential into performance. It also empowers students and parents to effectively utilize RACE (Reasonable Accommodations) to level the playing field.
What You Will Learn
How to Hack Your Revision: Discover active study methods that bypass "passive reading" and actually stick in the ADHD brain (e.g., blurting, interleaving).
Strategies for "The Wall": Learn exactly what to do when you hit a wall of procrastination or overwhelm, using micro-goals to restart your momentum.
Exam Technique Mastery: Understand how to structure exam answers to maximize marks and manage your time effectively during the actual test papers.
Navigating RACE Supports: Gain a clear understanding of the accommodations available (like reading assistance or separate centers) and how to practice using them before the exam day.
