Access To Work Funding.

Did you know the government could fund your ADHD Coaching?

Access to Work (AtW) is a UK government grant designed to help neurodivergent individuals succeed in the workplace. You shouldn't have to pay a "disability tax" just to do your job.

What is Access to Work?

Access to Work is a publicly funded employment support grant from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP). Its goal is simple: to help people with a physical or mental health condition or disability (including ADHD, Autism, and Dyslexia) to start a job, stay in a job, or move into self-employment.

The most important facts:

  • It is a grant, not a loan: You do not pay it back.

  • It is not means-tested: Your personal savings or household income do not affect your eligibility.

  • It is not just for "employees": Self-employed people and freelancers are eligible too.

What can it fund?

If you have ADHD, the grant can cover the extra costs you face at work. This commonly includes:

  • 1:1 ADHD Workplace Strategy Coaching: (That’s where I come in!). Funding for a specialist coach to help you master executive function, time management, and emotional regulation.

  • Support Workers: Admin assistants to help with paperwork or organization.

  • Assistive Technology: Software like Dragon Dictate or Read&Write.

  • Equipment: Noise-canceling headphones or sit-stand desks.

How I Support Your Application

Applying for Access to Work can feel daunting—especially for an ADHD brain! I aim to make the process as frictionless as possible.

Step 1: The Application You apply online at gov.uk/access-to-work. It takes about 15 minutes. You do not need a formal medical diagnosis to apply, but you must explain how your condition affects your work.

Step 2: The Assessment Once your application is processed (wait times vary), a DWP Case Manager will contact you. They may ask for a "Provider Quote" for coaching.

Step 3: The Provider Quote This is where I help. I can provide you with a comprehensive Provider Quote and a supporting document outlining exactly why coaching is necessary for your role. This helps justify the funding to your assessor.

Step 4: The Award Once approved, you will receive an Award Letter. We can then schedule your sessions immediately. I handle the monthly invoicing directly with you or your employer, reducing your admin burden.

Additional Supports Available: AD HOC Coaching SESSIONS - You can book in for an ad hoc coaching session to support you with the application process and in the interim of waiting for your grant to be approved as I understand support is something you need and you shouldn’t have to wait. These sessions can be helpful for aspects with work such as reducing burnout and reasonable adjustments.

Why Choose Busy Brains Coaching?

  • Specialist Expertise: Unlike general life coaches, I hold two MAs and have a background in education. My rates reflect this specialist level of support.

  • Lived Experience: I understand the specific hurdles of applying for support because I understand the ADHD brain.

  • Admin Support: My Access to Work rates are fully inclusive of the administrative time required to manage DWP invoicing and reporting.

The "Safety Net": Continued Support After Funding

What happens when the funding ends? One of the biggest worries my clients have is the "cliff edge"—the fear that support will vanish the moment their grant hours run out.

I believe in sustainable, long-term support, not just short-term fixes.

My Promise to You: If your Access to Work funding concludes, but you wish to maintain our coaching relationship (even for monthly check-ins), I offer a Reduced Private Rate exclusively for existing clients.

This ensures you always have a safety net and can continue to access support without the higher corporate price tag. We transition smoothly from "intensive strategy building" to "maintenance and growth."
