Session Description

The integration of Artificial Intelligence presents a unique opportunity to support neurodivergent learners, yet many educators are unsure how to implement it effectively. This CPD session moves beyond general tech discussions to focus on AI as a specific intervention for Executive Function deficits.

We explore how AI tools—from generative text to smart scheduling—can function as an "external brain" for students who struggle with working memory, planning, and organization. Rather than viewing AI as a shortcut, this course teaches it as a form of digital scaffolding. Participants will learn to guide students in using these tools to conquer "blank page syndrome," break down overwhelming projects, and manage their time, all within a framework of ethical and responsible use.

Learning Objectives

  • Identify High-Impact Tools: Categorize and select specific AI applications (e.g., summarizers, planners, outline generators) that directly address executive dysfunction.

  • Scaffold Assignments: Design specific interventions using AI to break down complex tasks into manageable micro-steps and generate structured outlines for students.

  • Support Task Initiation: Teach students how to use AI prompts to overcome procrastination and "getting started" paralysis (inertia).

  • Navigate Ethical Use: Facilitate critical conversations with students about using AI to maximize assistance while maintaining academic integrity and critical thinking.
